FAQ
What equipment do you use?
I use professional digital cameras from Canon with associated Canon professional L series Lenses (Currently using Canon 5d mark 2, and lens such as 24-70 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8).
Do you have backup equipment?
I always carry at least 2 camera bodies and numerous lens/flashes in case of any breakdown/accident. I also carry extra memory cards in case of failure.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. I have both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.
Will you cover more than one wedding on my special day?
No! I would never book two weddings on the same day. I will focus completely on capturing your special day and the images you want.
Will you cover my wedding abroad?
Of course! Please contact me to ensure I will be available. Travel costs will apply.
Do you take a booking fee?
Yes, to confirm the date I require a booking fee of £300. This will ensure that you have me booked for your day. Full payment will be due 4 weeks before your wedding. Please note that this is non-refundable.
Will it be you taking the photographs on our day?
I would never hire a different photographer to cover your wedding day - you are paying for me, not somebody that you haven’t met before! Depending on the location and coverage requirements, I may also hire an assistant.
Will I get a copy of the photographs from my wedding day?
Yes, as noted in the pricing page , you will get around 100 6”x4” prints and a DVD with all the images from your wedding day.
What if I want an album?
This can be discussed at our initial meeting where I will be able to provide album samples for you to view.
What if I want multiple albums?
Not a problem. I offer albums in various sizes and styles including parents’ albums.
Are you a member of any wedding photography groups/associations?
Yes, I am a member of The Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (SWPP), click here to view my profile.
Can other people take photos on the day?
Of course! The only exception to this will be when I take 30 minutes or so of images of the newlyweds alone as I find that having additional people/photographers present spoils the intimate mood.
How long after our wedding will the prints/DVD be ready?
Depending on my workload, your images should be ready in 4 weeks or less. Dependent on albums/proofing etc, these may take up to 12 weeks from order date.
What is your photography style?
I specialise in the photojournalistic wedding style. My photographs are less formal, capturing the natural, unstaged moments of weddings.
Do you shoot in colour or black & white?
I shoot in digital, so everything is captured in colour. However in post-production, I am able to change any image to black & white (as well as other styles).
What if it rains?
At our initial meeting, we will discuss this possibility and the plan at the church/reception venue if this were to happen. I also carry numerous white umbrellas in case it does!
How many weddings have you photographed?
As I write this, I have photographed 14 different weddings as main or assistant photographer.
How many pictures will you take?
I will take as many I need to capture your whole day. On average I shoot around 100 pictures per hour at a wedding. As a result I could easily shoot 1500 images at your wedding! I won’t present all these to you however, as there will people blinking, looking the wrong way etc! Instead, I will present the best images to you, the ones that have captured the mood and beauty of your day.
What time will you arrive & how long will you stay?
I will arrive when you want me to, it is your day. If you agree, I would like this to be before hair and makeup is done, as I feel that missing this is like missing the first chapter of a book. I will stay until you want me to go; this is usually shortly after the first dance, but I can stay longer if required.
What will you be wearing at our wedding?
I generally wear a morning suit. However if you have special requirements, please let me know!
Why should I hire you and not my uncle/friend/another amateur that has a “good camera”?
Does your uncle/friend have a backup camera? What happens if theirs fails/gets dropped? Would you want to risk not getting any photos of your special day? What happens if somebody trips over their equipment and gets sued? I doubt your uncle/friend has insurance for a situation like this. Finally, how many weddings has your uncle/friend photographed? Without plenty of experience, it may be that they won’t be in the right place at the right time. Is it worth saving a bit of money, when it might mean that your memories are not preserved?
